Studio Kapitbahay started in 2020 and was born out of a common need to have a place to work, be productive, and inspire collaborations. This second location in 2022 was a two-story duplex apartment in Kapitolyo, with a total floor area of around 270 sqm, plus a generous outdoor area. The studio was set up in such a way that each member has their own personal spaces where they can work on their own things, and then common areas that we use for socializing, leisure, or work if someone wants a change of scenery or needs more space.
The design is reminiscent of certain elements of the old studio space. We mimicked the same materials and colors that were present there, like breeze blocks, polycarbonate, and wood. But at the same time, we wanted to create something bigger and better to suit the scale of the new space, so we introduced softer and more organic forms to contrast the hard edges and geometric shapes from before.
